Shared with you
Blessed are the poor in spirit
Sermon on the Mount
Lord, you said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I seek you now.
Jeremiah 29:13
Holy Spirit, open my eyes, that I may see wonderful things in your word.
Psalm 119:18
Father, give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know you better.
Ephesians 1:17
1And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: 2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, 3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Jesus begins with “Blessed are the poor in spirit.” Where are you still trying to come to God rich: with your record, your effort, your goodness?
- Is there an area of your life you treat as handled, where you have not asked for his help in a long time?
- The kingdom of heaven is given to the poor in spirit, not earned by the strong. What would change in you if you truly believed that today?
His word
Jesus, you said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Receive
I come with empty hands. I have nothing to bring but my need. I receive your kingdom as a gift.
Thanks
Thank you that you bless the poor in spirit. Thank you that your kingdom is mine by grace. Amen.
