Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

True Light Bible is a Bible reading and study app available on the web and on iOS. This policy covers both. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

What we collect

If you create an account

You can read the Bible without an account. If you sign in — with Apple, with Google, or with an email address — we store your account identifier and email so your saved content can follow you between devices. Accounts are handled by Supabase, which hosts our database.

Content you save

Bookmarks, collections, verses you add to memorize, and your memorization progress are stored in your account so they sync across devices. If you are signed out, preferences such as your chosen translation stay on your device only.

Study features that send data to a provider

  • Explain a verse. The verse reference, the translation, and any follow-up question you type are sent to OpenAI to generate the explanation. Generated explanations are cached on our servers so the same verse does not need to be regenerated; the cache is keyed by verse, not by user.
  • Voice questions. If you record a spoken question, the audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription and is not retained by us after the transcript comes back. The microphone is used only while you are actively recording.
  • Bible text. Translations other than the built-in KJV are fetched from API.bible as you read.

Usage analytics

We record which features are used — for example that a chapter was opened, that an explanation was requested, or that a translation was changed — so we can tell what is worth improving and which languages to support next. These events are processed by PostHog.

What analytics never includes: the text of verses you read, the questions you type or speak, your transcripts, or the contents of your bookmarks. Events record that a feature was used, not what you studied. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Technical data

Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes standard request data such as IP address and browser type in order to serve the site and to produce aggregate traffic statistics.

Children

True Light Bible is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

  • Delete your account. In the iOS app, open Profile and choose Delete Account. This removes your account and the content saved to it.
  • Use the app signed out. Reading, search, and word study work without an account.
  • Request your data. Email us and we will provide or delete the data associated with your account.

Processors we use

  • Supabase — accounts and saved content
  • OpenAI — verse explanations and voice transcription

Changes

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the date above.
