Shared with you
The persecuted
Sermon on the Mount
Father, give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know you better.
Ephesians 1:17
Spirit of truth, guide me into all the truth.
John 16:13
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1
10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
- Jesus says, “Blessed are you when people insult you … because of me.” Where have you stayed quiet about him to avoid being insulted?
- When you are mistreated, is it because of righteousness and because of him, or for something you need to own?
- He tells you to “rejoice and be glad.” What would it look like to rejoice instead of resent when following him costs you?
His word
Jesus, you said, “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.”
Receive
When following you costs me, keep me faithful. I receive your blessing, even there.
Thanks
Thank you that the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who suffer for you. Thank you that you suffered first for me. Amen.
