Salt of the earth
Sermon on the Mount
Lord, you said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I seek you now.
Jeremiah 29:13
Spirit of truth, guide me into all the truth.
John 16:13
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
- Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth.” Where do you blend in so well that no one would know you belong to him?
- Is there a place where you have quietly made peace with the world’s ways instead of being different?
- Salt that loses its saltiness is “no longer good for anything.” What has dulled you: a habit, a compromise, a coldness of heart?
His word
Jesus, you said, “You are the salt of the earth.”
Receive
Where I have lost my saltiness, restore me. I receive what you say I am.
Thanks
Thank you that you have made me yours and sent me into the world. Amen.
