Shared with you
Marriage
Sermon on the Mount
Lord, you said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I seek you now.
Jeremiah 29:13
Spirit of truth, guide me into all the truth.
John 16:13
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1
31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
- Jesus does not treat the marriage promise as something easily set aside. How seriously do you take the promises you have made before God?
- God’s design is a faithfulness that does not give up easily. In which of your relationships are you tempted to walk away when it gets hard?
- If divorce has touched your life or your family, what do you need to bring to him today: grief, guilt, or a wound that still hurts? He will not turn you away.
His word
Jesus, you spoke of marriage as a promise to be kept before God.
Receive
Teach me to be faithful in the promises I make. Where there is brokenness in me or around me, I receive your mercy and your healing.
Thanks
Thank you that you are faithful even when we are not. Thank you that no one who comes to you is turned away. Amen.
