Shared with you
Turn the other cheek
Sermon on the Mount
Lord, you said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I seek you now.
Jeremiah 29:13
Holy Spirit, open my eyes, that I may see wonderful things in your word.
Psalm 119:18
Father, give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know you better.
Ephesians 1:17
38Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. 41And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
- Jesus says, “If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.” Where are you holding on to the right to get even?
- Who has wronged you, and what would it look like to answer them with grace instead of payback?
- He says, “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.” Where do you do the bare minimum for others, and resent even that?
His word
Jesus, you said, “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.”
Receive
Take away my need to get even. Give me a heart that gives more than is asked, and I receive your way as mine.
Thanks
Thank you that you have not repaid me as I deserve. Amen.
