Those who mourn
Sermon on the Mount
Holy Spirit, open my eyes, that I may see wonderful things in your word.
Psalm 119:18
Father, give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know you better.
Ephesians 1:17
Spirit of truth, guide me into all the truth.
John 16:13
4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
- Jesus says, “Blessed are those who mourn.” What loss or grief are you carrying that you have not yet brought to him?
- Do you still mourn over your own sin, or have you grown used to it? Where has your heart stopped grieving what grieves God?
- He promises that those who mourn “will be comforted.” Where have you been looking for comfort somewhere other than him?
His word
Jesus, you said, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Receive
I bring you my grief and my sin. At your word, I receive your comfort.
Thanks
Thank you that you do not turn away from those who mourn. Thank you for comforting me. Amen.
