The Lord’s Prayer
Sermon on the Mount
Lord, you said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I seek you now.
Jeremiah 29:13
Holy Spirit, open my eyes, that I may see wonderful things in your word.
Psalm 119:18
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
- He teaches you to pray, “Hallowed be your name.” Do your prayers begin with God’s glory, or go straight to your own needs?
- “Your will be done.” What part of your life are you still praying over as if it were your will that must be done?
- “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Is there someone whose debt you are still holding?
His word
Jesus, you taught us to pray, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done.”
Receive
Father, let your will be done in me today. Give me my daily bread, and forgive me as I forgive.
Thanks
Thank you that I can call you Father. Amen.
