Do not judge
Sermon on the Mount
Father, give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know you better.
Ephesians 1:17
Spirit of truth, guide me into all the truth.
John 16:13
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1
1Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
- Jesus asks why you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own. Whose speck have you been focused on?
- What plank in your own eye might God be pointing to instead?
- “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” If God measured you the way you measure others, how would you fare?
His word
Jesus, you said, “First take the plank out of your own eye.”
Receive
Show me my own sin before I point to anyone else’s. I receive your correction, so that I can see clearly.
Thanks
Thank you that you do not judge me as I deserve. Amen.
