Doing the Father’s will
Sermon on the Mount
Lord, you said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I seek you now.
Jeremiah 29:13
Spirit of truth, guide me into all the truth.
John 16:13
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1
21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
- Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.” Where do you call him Lord but not obey him?
- He says only “the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” What do you know is his will that you are not doing?
- The people he describes did great things in his name. Are you resting on your service for him rather than on knowing him?
His word
Jesus, you said that only the one who does the will of your Father will enter the kingdom of heaven.

I do not want only to call you Lord. Teach me your will, and I will do it.
Thanks
Thank you that you know me and call me your own. Amen.
