What does Hebrews 3:19 mean?

Hebrews 3:19 draws a conclusion from the story of the Israelites who left Egypt. The generation that traveled through the wilderness did not enter the land God had promised them, because they did not believe him.

The writer uses “So we see” to draw the readers into that conclusion, following the question in verse 18. “Enter in” pictures the people reaching the land that lay ahead of them after their journey.
