What does 1 Corinthians 4:13 mean?

In 1 Corinthians 4:13, Paul describes how he and his fellow workers respond when people speak against them. Instead of returning the attack, they answer with an appeal. Paul also says that others treat them as if they were worthless and fit to be thrown away.

Paul uses images of waste to show how deeply people look down on them. The phrase “unto this day” tells the Corinthian readers that this treatment was still continuing when Paul wrote.
