The Hebrew behind 2 Samuel 22:1

  • LORD (יְהוָה, YHWH): This is the personal name for God in the Hebrew Bible, emphasizing a close, covenant relationship between David and God.
  • delivered (נָצַל, natsal): This word means to rescue or snatch away from danger. It highlights that David credits God alone for saving him from threats he could not escape on his own.
  • song (שִׁירָה, shirah): The Hebrew word for "song" here points to a poetic or musical composition, not just spoken words, showing that David’s response to deliverance is heartfelt praise.
