What does Ezekiel 3:8 mean?

In Ezekiel 3:8, God tells Ezekiel that he has made him strong enough to face people who will resist his message. The verse pictures Ezekiel’s resolve as matching the resistance of the people he is being sent to address.

God speaks of Ezekiel’s “face” and “forehead” meeting theirs. The picture follows the description of the people as hard-hearted in verse 7. The matching phrases put Ezekiel and his hearers face-to-face.
