What does Job 40:6 mean?

Job 40:6 marks the beginning of another reply from the LORD to Job. Job has been speaking about his suffering and his questions. The verse shows that their exchange is continuing, with the LORD now addressing Job directly.

The whirlwind gives the scene a picture of fierce, moving wind. Coming after Job’s brief reply in verses 4–5, the words “answered … and said” prepare the reader for what the LORD will say next.

The Hebrew behind Job 40:6

• “LORD” — יהוה (YHWH): This is the personal name of Israel’s God. The KJV represents the name with “LORD” in capital letters, so a reader can recognize the name behind the title.
• “whirlwind” — סְעָרָה (seʿarah): This word describes a storm or violent wind. It gives the setting of the LORD’s speech a forceful, turbulent character.

Why Job 40:6 matters
