What does Psalms 54:5 mean?

Psalms 54:5 expresses confidence that God will bring the wrongdoing of the speaker’s enemies back upon them. The speaker then asks God to put an end to those enemies, appealing to God’s truth as the basis for that request.

The verse moves from a statement about what God will do to a direct appeal to God: “cut them off.” After calling God his helper in verse 4, the speaker looks to God to deal with those who threaten him.
