1 Kings 3:21 (KJV)

What does 1 Kings 3:21 mean?

1 Kings 3:21 records a woman describing how, when she woke up in the morning to nurse her baby, she found the child dead, but upon closer examination realized it was not her own son. This verse is part of her testimony before King Solomon as she tries to prove her true identity as the child’s mother.

In this scene, one of two women living together is speaking directly to King Solomon, explaining the events that led to their dispute over a living baby. The woman’s careful observation ("when I had considered it in the morning") shows her certainty that the child she found was not the one she had given birth to, setting up the dilemma Solomon must resolve.

The Hebrew behind 1 Kings 3:21
