What does Daniel 9:8 mean?

Daniel 9:8 is part of Daniel’s prayer to the Lord. Daniel acknowledges that his people have reason to feel ashamed because they have sinned against God. He includes their rulers and earlier generations in that admission, rather than placing the blame on one group.

“Confusion of face” pictures the visible embarrassment of people who have been found in the wrong. After the contrast in verse 7 between God’s rightness and the people’s shame, Daniel continues by addressing the Lord directly. His repeated “to us” includes himself among those he speaks for.
