What does Psalms 32:7 mean?

Psalms 32:7 is a personal prayer in which the speaker addresses God as a source of safety in trouble. The speaker expects God not only to guard him but also to surround him with songs celebrating deliverance, or rescue.

The image of a “hiding place” pictures shelter from danger. After verse 6 describes overwhelming waters that cannot reach the person who prays, verse 7 turns directly to God with the words “Thou art.” The movement from shelter to songs gives the verse both a sense of protection and a sound of celebration.
