2 Chronicles 24:9 describes a public call for the people of Judah and Jerusalem to bring money for the repair of the LORD’s house. The call connects that collection with a payment Moses had required from Israel during its journey through the wilderness.

After a chest was placed at the gate of the LORD’s house in verse 8, the announcement told people what to bring. Calling Moses “the servant of God” identifies the collection with a respected figure from Israel’s earlier history.
