What does Numbers 34:7 mean?

Numbers 34:7 begins the description of the northern edge of the land allotted to Israel. The people are told to mark that boundary from the Great Sea toward Mount Hor, using named places to define the land’s limits.

God is speaking to Moses, who is to pass these instructions to the Israelites. After the western boundary in verse 6, the description turns north. “Point out” calls for marking a boundary on the landscape, rather than merely naming a destination.
