What does Deuteronomy 12:9 mean?

Deuteronomy 12:9 explains why Israel’s worship practices would change. Moses tells the Israelites that their present situation is temporary: they have not yet reached the settled home that the LORD their God is giving them.

The words “not as yet” look ahead from Israel’s journey to life in the land. Following verse 8, Moses connects that future home with a change from doing what seems right to each person.
