What does Numbers 7:40 mean?

Numbers 7:40 identifies one young male goat as a gift presented for a “sin offering.” This kind of offering belonged to Israel’s worship at the sacred tent and dealt with sin before God. The animal was part of the gift brought by the leader of the tribe of Benjamin.

The verse is part of a narrated list, not someone’s speech. After the animals for the burnt offering in verse 39, the list gives a separate purpose for this goat. The word “kid” means a young goat, not a child.
